Born and Brought up in Hyderabad, India. Studied at Gandhi Medical College, completed Post graduation in Osmania Medical College. Moved to United Kingdom and underwent training in Cardiothoracic Surgery for 10 years in various parts of the Country. He worked in West Midlands, Nottingham, and Yorkshire. He worked with Stalwart surgeons like Mr William Brawn, Mr David Barron, Mr Ramesh Patel, Mr Steven Griffin to name a few. Following completion of training, he decided to come back to India to serve his Motherland.
He has conducted extensive research on the role of gut protection in inflammatory response after cardiac surgery and has numerous national & international publications to his credit. He obtained an MD from Manchester University for his research in UK.
He worked for a short while in Naryana Hrudayalaya – Malla Reddy Hospitals, Hyderabad. He joined forces with other cardiologists and formed a team with Dr Anil Krishna, Dr Sharath, and Mr Hari Krishna and started the Cardiothoracic Surgery department at Sunshine Hospitals, and then moved along with the team to start Maxcure Hospitals which then became Medicover Hospitals, one of the leading brands in Health care in India (particularly Telugu speaking states and Maharastra).
He has a record of performing surgeries quickly but at the same time with great quality, therefore avoiding complications to patients. After performing around 500 procedures in the UK, he started the cardiac surgical unit at Sunshine Heart Institute in March 2011, and so far has performed more than 8000 cardiac surgeries for various problems on a range of patients from babies to 80 years old.
He specializes in endarterectomies, long anastomosis & coronary deroofing procedures for complex coronary artery lesions. He is an expert in performing redo surgeries, particularly valve replacements. His technique of Valve replacement ensures a fast and safe replacement, which helps in faster recovery.
He has trained numerous surgeons and making them into full fledged surgeons, who have established their own units and are practicing in different parts of the country and world.
He is an expert in Mitral valve repair and has conducted many workshops to train other surgeons in various techniques of repair.
His interest lies in repairing the Rheumatic mitral valve. Rheumatic heart disease starts as a sore throat and joint pains in childhood, and involves the heart as the child grows. the valves get destroyed due to the rheumatic process and these valves are extremely difficult to repair. However, repairing them will benefit the patients who are young and in many instances ladies. Repairing the valves reduces the medicines required and makes the valve as normal as possible.
